1 agreement (document) between the British Columbia Electric Company Limited and the Corporation of the Township of Langley; dated June 1st, 1961; 10 pages total; 6 typed pages contain the contents of the agreement, 3 additional typed pages contain: "Schedule A", "Schedule B" and "Appendix A", and there is a thicker, blue cardstock page at the end; text on the back of the blue cardstock page reads: "1st day of June, 1961 / Between: / British Columbia Electric / Company Limited, / (hereinafter called the / "Company"), / of the first part / and / The Corporation of the Township / of Langley, / (hereinafter called the / "Customer"). / of the second part. / Overhead Street Lighting / (Rural) Agreement"; on the first page, the company is identified as "British Columbia Electric Company / Limited, of 970 Burrard Street, / Vancouver 1, British Columbia"; the 6th page is embossed with a circular seal which reads: "The Corporation of the Township of Langley / Incorporated 1873" and reads: "The Corporate Seal of / the Customer was affixed / hereto in the presence / of:" and is signed by "Daniel W. Poppy (Reeve) and "D. Doubleday (Clerk)"; the 6th page of the agreement is also signed: " Per: RG Scott / General Sales Manager".

Township of Langley
The Township of Langley, B.C., comprising Langley, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Langley Prairie, Derby, Milner, Aldergrove, Otter, Salmon River Uplands, and Glen Valley, was incorporated in 1873. The City of Langley, B.C., covering the Langley Prairie region, was incorporated as a separate entity in 1955. Langley was named after Thomas Langley, a prominent stockholder in the management of the Hudson's Bay Company. He had inherited his brother's stock in the Company in 1793 and was selected as a member of the committee in 1807. He held this position until his death in 1829.
